Pompidou LOGO

"From Paris has arrived an impossible ship loaded with the art of the avant-garde."

The Centre Pompidou Malaga is the first headquarters outside France of the Georges Pompidou National Center of Art and Culture. It was designed by the Gerencia de Urbanismo of the city, the exterior of the project dialogues with the port environment in which it is located, using materials of industrial character, it is also an express reference to the binomial art-technique through the use of the rhythms of punched cards used by Joseph-Marie Jacquard (1805).

The Cultural Center is organized on two floors as a fluid and continuous space. Structuring elements of the project are the two large voids.

The exterior void is perceived as an element of urban reference that allows us to always maintain the interior-exterior relationship. Non-accessible space, which becomes a "showcase" space of the Center, and around it the service spaces are organized, such as the access or the store.

The interior void is the central exhibition space, around which everything is organized. Singular and differentiating, because of its dimensions and the versatility of its facilities, it can house works of very different styles.
