Architectural complex located in Gaona Street, in the heart of the city, whose first building was built by the brother of the first Count of Buenavista, Salvador Guerrero, in 1706. Since 1739 it belonged to the Congregation of San Felipe Neri and, after being disentailed, the building was inaugurated as the Institute of Malaga on October 1, 1846.

Over the years, numerous architects have been involved in the successive extensions and renovations of the complex. Among them, Felipe de Unzurrúnzaga (author of the house of Baltasar Guerrero), Antonio Ramos and Tomás de Valenzuela and (respectively, designer and master of the Patio de Columnas, 1752), and José Martín de Aldehuela, who directed several works in the complex from 1779.

Its architectural evolution runs parallel to the different occupations of the complex: Palace-House, headquarters of the Congregation of San Felipe Neri in Malaga, French Prefecture during the occupation in the War of Independence, first secondary school in the city, a use it still maintains today.

The complex, charged with the vitality that gives it its incessant academic activity -it has morning and afternoon teaching shifts-, is faithful to its history, permanently vindicated. Without renouncing tradition, in recent years it has become the flagship of quality education in Andalusia.
