Meeting point:Plaza de la Merced, next to the statue of Picasso - 29012 Malaga.

Saturday, May 11th:10:00h and 11:00h.

Person in charge of guiding the visit: First shift of visit guided by Antonio Jesús Santana Guzmán, assistant professor doctor of the Department of History of Art; second shift of visit guided by Juan Corbacho Sánchez, student of the master's degree in Social Development of Artistic Culture. There will be a third complementary shift at 12:45h, in which only those attendees who have registered in one of the two previous shifts will be able to participate in an optional way. During this additional shift, there will be a tour of the collections of Picasso's Birthplace, which will be guided by the museum's mediator. Always keeping in mind the capacity limit of the Casa Natal, which is 25 attendees. It is important to note that this tour focuses exclusively on the visit to Picasso's Birth House, it is not another tour of the Picasso route from the origin.

The third tour is focused on the collections.
We recommend arriving in advance, our volunteers will be waiting for you at the meeting point. Access on a first-come, first-served basis, until full capacity is reached.

We recommend that you bring comfortable clothes and shoes, and water.

His Birthplace and the urban environment near La Merced

One of the most universal artists, Pablo Ruiz Picasso, was born in the Plaza de la Merced. He spent the first years of his life in Malaga, which is why in the surrounding area there is real estate linked to episodes of his childhood. Likewise, the urban transformation of the area over the centuries is related to many aspects, among others: the course of a historic stream, the exchange of goods, the defense of the city, health, eternal rest, faith, economy, politics and culture. Some of them remain in the immovable heritage of its buildings and streets, others are part of the memory, but all of them belong to the citizens and therefore it is interesting to know them.
