The Jorge Rando Museum and Foundation is an institution dedicated to the study, research and dissemination of expressionism with a clear concept: Doors always open... so that people can enter and the museum can go out.

Rehabilitation works have been carried out to eliminate the architecture and added elements, with the aim of enhancing the spatial and typological relationships of the complex, as well as adapting it to the use of Cultural Facilities.

This rehabilitation has led to a relationship with the inner courtyard of the old nursery, where the prominence of a magnificent specimen of Mandarin tree, planted by the founder of the convent in the late nineteenth century, has been enhanced. Over this courtyard and attached to the party walls, a two-story volume has been built to house the exhibition halls.

The northern disposition of its facades has made it possible to execute large openings in them.

The materials used as cladding have much to do with the expressionist reading. Rusty steel in facades and polished concrete in pavements, show the natural and beautiful hardness of its texture, in contrast with the white walls, as neutral canvases.

Natural light has been the fundamental element and guiding thread of the intervention. Both in the areas to be rehabilitated and in the new floor, the floor slabs have been oradado, to allow the flow of zenithal light.
