"The crossover between the testimonial account and the historical progression through the so-called spaces of memory..."

The use of collective memory circumscribed to a specific urban setting is an opportunity to narrate recent history from the present time. Especially when the testimonies of those who are the protagonists of a series of events that, due to circumstances, have not been duly acknowledged or included in the official versions acquire notoriety in this narrative. The crossover between the testimonial account and the historical progression through the so-called 'spaces of memory' conceptualized by Pierre Nora, converges in an exercise of recognition in which there is room for both otherness and the contrast between different groups, mentalities and concerns.

Following these guidelines, a route has been designed focused on the evocation of historical episodes that occurred in the urban environment of Malaga during the twentieth century. This is an exceptional opportunity so that, from the knowledge of the inherited heritage, citizens can recognize in these shared scenarios the meaning they have for their community. This activity will allow the understanding and awareness of history since, from the visit to specific environments, past situations will be recalled, the development of a debate will be encouraged on what ideas caused what happened as well as how they influenced specific decisions of certain social groups. The union between urban space and human actions will be a consubstantial binomial for the configuration of collective identities and citizen recognition of their idiosyncratic character.
