This impressive construction, built in the 11th century, was the fortress palace of the Muslim rulers of the city. It rises on a hill adapting to its topography.

Parts of the Alcazaba not open to the public will be visited. The keep (exotic name coming from the Christian feudalism for a Muslim tower) and the neighborhood of houses of the eleventh century. In this neighborhood of eight houses, with a courtyard and classical Roman layout, were housed military, palace servants and probably authorities and women of the harem.
