This is a visit/walk to La Alameda Principal, where we will be able to get to know the space recovered by a recent redevelopment intervention. We will contemplate the spatial configuration and its built and natural heritage values.
The Alameda Principal corresponds to an urban space of historical character, backbone between the Ensanche Heredia and the downtown area. Its layout as a unitary space dates from the late eighteenth century, arranged on an area of sandy beachfront, in front of the wall where sediments had been deposited dragged through the Guadalmedina River.
It has a wide cultural and physical heritage, with a variety of architectural styles architecture architecture of the XVIII, XIX and XX centuries, protected buildings in its majority, the ficus the centenary ficus trees that make up the tree-lined vault, the monument to the Marquis of Larios of Mariano Benlliure or archaeological remains such as the traces of the walls of the Fort of San Lorenzo and the Nasrid wall.
The remodeling project of the Alameda Principal was carried out in 2018-2019. It responds to a unitary conception of the entire space and has been raised as a historical recovery of the "living room" space as a place for citizen meeting, with a broad process of participation, from a conservation and heritage valuation, incorporating this historical layer to the functional and informational layer that configures it as a contemporary space.
